In this article, I aim to demystify Developer Relations, also known as DevRel, in a layman's language. I'll not only clarify the term but also delve into what you can expect to do as a DevRel professional and why you should contemplate choosing it as a career path. Let's unravel the world of DevRel together!

WHAT IS DEVELOPER RELATIONS (DEVREL)?
Developer Relations (DevRel) acts as a connection between those developers and the organisations that make the tools they use. A DevRel professional's main target is to enable developers communicate better with these companies. They come in and act as helpful messengers, advocating for what developers need, making it easy for them to understand the tools, and providing the important information needed. They also serve as a useful link between tech companies and developer communities, what this means is that, they ensure that developers and tech businesses communicate effectively, ultimately improving the experience of producing and utilising technology for everyone involved.

While a DevRel job role vary company to company, they all essentially do the same thing. They ask the questions so you don’t have to, they are said to be the voice of the user. DevRel gather feedback in a way developers can’t then use that feedback to shape the product to become what it needs to be.

Now that you have a grasp of what Developer Relations entails, let's delve into a few factors to help you determine if it's the right career path for you.

Firstly, consider your Love for Community. Developer Relations places a strong emphasis on community engagement. If you genuinely enjoy interacting with and being a part of a community, then pursuing a career in DevRel could be a rewarding choice.

The second factor is your interest in technology. If you possess a true passion for technology, coupled with a curiosity that motivates you to explore new tools, programming languages, and frameworks, then DevRel might align well with your interests.

Thirdly, evaluate your passion for speaking and effective communication. Developer Relations involves a significant amount of public speaking.
