WHAT IS DEVELOPER RELATIONS (DEVREL)?
Developer Relations (DevRel) acts as a connection between those developers and the organisations that make the tools they use. A DevRel professional's main target is to enable developers communicate better with these companies. They come in and act as helpful messengers, advocating for what developers need, making it easy for them to understand the tools, and providing the important information needed. They also serve as a useful link between tech companies and developer communities, what this means is that, they ensure that developers and tech businesses communicate effectively, ultimately improving the experience of producing and utilising technology for everyone involved.
While a DevRel job role vary company to company, they all essentially do the same thing. They ask the questions so you don’t have to, they are said to be the voice of the user. DevRel gather feedback in a way developers can’t then use that feedback to shape the product to become what it needs to be.
